VIDEO: Armed probation officer catches alleged subway harasser
NEW YORK – An armed probation officer whipped out his gun and forced a woman’s alleged attacker to the ground Wednesday night on a New York City subway and it was all caught on video, reports CBS New York.
The amateur video – recorded on a cell phone – shows the officer pointing a gun at
another man who had allegedly been attacking a woman on the train. The officer reportedly kept the gun pointed at the alleged attacker, making sure he
stayed on the floor of the train, until police arrived.
The female victim told a witness that the suspect was “a stranger” and had been “chasing her” from car to car on the train. The suspect allegedly threw a punch and she held up her arm to block it, according to the station.
That was when the officer described as a hero took action and used his 9mm pistol to get the suspect on the ground, according to the station.
Afterward, NYPD officers stormed the train car and arrested the suspect – identified as 33-year-old Jermaine Jordan.
Jordan is charged with assault and harassment. Police say he has more than two dozen prior arrests.
