The Feed's amazing Black Friday Music Round-Up
(CBS News) Thanksgiving is over and chances are you're stuffed full of turkey, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie and a whole lot more with a mountain of leftovers to munch on throughout the day (or week, if you're like me). At least some of you are probably getting a little exercise today in the form of racing around for Black Friday shopping deals. And speaking of Friday, many of you know what that means here at The Feed: it's time for the always-epic Friday Music Round-Up! This week we kick off with a total no-brainer, in my humble opinion: take a look and listen to Florence + The Machine's awesome new music video for the song "Lover To Lover" above.
I swear, every time I hear a song by Florence + The Machine, I get goosebumps. The voice on Florence Welch is stunning, as is the video. But that's no surprise coming from a band that has been on fire the past few years. And, like I said before, a no-brainer to highlight in our top spot.
We shift now from the well-known to the lesser-known (or possibly not known at all by many) in the form of a wonderful rock cover of the David Guetta (featuring Usher) song "Without You" by self-described "acoustic cover project band", AURORABRIVIDO, in our second music item below.
Normally our third spot would be held by a fan of The Feed request, but we wanted to do something a bit different this week. Universal Children's Day was on November 20th, and to highlight this day The Lost Choir performed a rendition of the legendary Tears for Fears song "Mad World" with a very poignant twist to it below. You really need to see this one.
The powerful video was put out by the International Children's Fund who write about it:
Every three seconds the world loses a child. Again, this year many children will not see their fifth birthday. The reasons for this tragedy are diverse; hunger, malnutrition, dirty water or the absence of vaccine protection. Every single one of these problems can weaken the immune system so much that avoidable diseases lead to life-threatening danger.
Our fourth item always tries to highlight a creative blend of the auditory and visual, and this week the spot is highlighted by a collaboration between visual artist Mike Cantor, nerdcore singer MC Frontalot and bassist Brandon Patton in the form of a stop-motion, animated music video below entitled "Freckle" that uses over 19,000 hand-created velcro dots. Go ahead and check it out.
Our last item in the Friday Music Round-Up tends to be something a bit different, odd or amusing. And I thought, this being the day after Thanksgiving, a soul song dedicated to food seemed appropriate. So go ahead and take a listen to Logan McWilliam's "The Chicken Song" at the bottom of the post. Spoiler: it may be about a passion for all things chicken (and not turkey, no).
And with that, I hope you have an amazing upcoming weekend, hopefully had a wonderful Thanksgiving this year, stay safe during the insanity that is Black Friday, and make sure to keep coming back to The Feed for all your viral (and music) video need.
