Special task force officer recovering from shooting in Dallas
DALLAS -- Police are trying to determine who shot an Arlington officer during a special task force operation in a Dallas neighborhood.
The Dallas Police Department reports the officer was shot early Thursday morning. The Arlington officer was transported to a Dallas hospital and is expected to survive.
Police did not immediately announce any arrests following the gunfire around dawn Thursday.
Lt. Christopher Cook says other officers rushed the wounded officer to a nearby gas station to await an ambulance. Arlington police Chief Will Johnson says the officer was in good condition and good spirits while recovering at a Dallas hospital Thursday. Details weren't immediately released about the officer's injuries.
Thursday morning, CBSDFW reported that the suspect or suspects involved in the incident were on the run.
It said that during the search, Dallas police showed a strong presence on Wilbur Street, a residential street about a 12 minute drive south of the Shell gas station. Police blockades were set up and Dallas SWAT team members arrived in armored vehicles after 9 a.m. Thursday, the station reported.
Arlington is a located between Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas.
