Sniffing out "stink bomber" at Colorado ski resort

COPPER MOUNTAIN, Colo. -- A man has targeted a tavern at a Colorado resort with "stink bombs" more than a dozen times, and no one knows why, and no one has yet identified him,CBS Denver reports.

Deputies in Summit County are searching for the man who has fouled the site at Copper Mountain repeatedly over the past three years, and hope surveillance video will help sniff him out.

According to the county sheriff's office, the station reported, just after 9 p.m. on Sept. 17 a person described as an older white male was captured on video "throwing a plastic bottle filled with an unknown putrid smelling liquid onto the patio" at Tucker's Tavern.

"This is the 13th reported incident over the past three years where a similar looking male has thrown 'stink bombs' onto the patio of this establishment," according to tavern owner Jan Skultety.

Skulety is worried for his family's safety since the suspect apparently knows what hours they are at the business and their routines.

"We have no clue why someone would want to do this to us, we can't think of a reason or a person who has a grudge against our independently-owned small business," Skulety told CBS Denver.

The family has been forced to have the patio carpets professionally treated and cleaned. They say getting rid of the horrible smell is very difficult.

During the most recent attack which was caught on security cameras, the suspect was wearing a light-colored baseball cap, a blue or green jacket and tan pants. Those cameras were installed after the repeated attacks.
