Shawn Peterson, person of interest in New Orleans triple killing, turns himself in, report says
(CBS/AP) NEW ORLEANS - Police say the person of interest in the Wednesday night shooting where three people were killed, has turned himself in, according to CBS affiliate WWLTV.
A NOPD spokesperson reportedly said Shawn Peterson,41, came into the police headquarters and is now speaking with investigators.
A 39-year-old Christine George, her 20-year-old daughter Tresa George and 18-year-old son Leonard George were found dead inside the garage of a home in the Gentily section of New Orleans.
Police say they received a call indicating several people had been shot. All were pronounced dead on the scene.
The 39-year-old victim reportedly worked as a NOPD dispatcher.
According to The New Orleans Advocate, Peterson was identified by family member as the father of Leonard George.
The paper reports Peterson's rap sheet includes a second-degree murder charge for which he was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison. When he got out in 2008, he was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to the paper.
The investigation is ongoing.
