Semi rams into South Carolina restaurant
MONCKS CORNER, S.C. -- A semi-truck slammed into the side of the Huddle House restaurant in the wee hours of Monday morning, reports CBS Charleston affiliate WCSC-TV.
Details are limited, but the station says the semi ran a stoplight before plowing into the eatery.
“It was the scariest thing to ever happen in my life,” a visibly shaken Huddle House employee said. “It went straight through the building and all the way to the back, toward the other business.”
Other eyewitnesses say the crash was unbearably loud. “It sounded like nails on a chalkboard,” one woman said.
According to the witnesses, the driver walked out of the truck saying he didn’t remember what had happened.
The truck was operated by Tennessee-based Covenant Transport. The company said it’s aware of the crash but was unable to release any information.
