Suspect in custody after shooting on campus in Baton Rouge
BATON ROUGE, La. -- Police say one person was critically wounded in a shooting on Southern University’s campus in Louisiana.
The university said in a statement Friday morning that a suspect was in custody and a campus-wide lockdown and shelter-in-place warning had been lifted.
A school statement Thursday night said the male victim of the shooting was taken to a local hospital.
The school said its campus police department was working with other law-enforcement agencies, continuing the investigation into the shooting. Officials added neither the victim nor the suspect is a Southern University student.
CBS Baton Rouge affiliate WAFB-TV reports the victim is believed to be 19 years old, and that the shooting happened near the school’s law center.
