Police: Man charged with murder also killed two found in N.C. river
ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- A man already charged in a slaying at an apartment now faces additional felony counts in the deaths of a couple whose bodies were found in the French Broad River.
Pierre Lamont Griffin has been charged with with the first-degree murders of Alexandra King and Tatianna Diz. Both Asheville women's bodies were found in the French Broad River last week.
A police chase began that ended in Griffin's arrest in Polk County after he was shot by Henderson County Sheriff's Deputies.
Investigators say that on Oct. 27, King and Diz left their apartment around 9:15 pm and traveled in King's vehicle to pick up Pierre Lamont Griffin II.
They said the three then went directly to a secluded area near the River Arts District. It was there that Griffin shot and killed King and Diz, police said, according to the station.
Searchers discovered the body of 20-year-old Tatianna Diz on Friday, nine days after the couple disappeared. Their car was found bloodied and with a gunshot hole in the passenger headrest.
The body of 22-year-old Alexandra King was found Thursday in the French Broad River near Asheville's River Arts District.
Investigators think that after the women were killed, Griffin went to the apartment of Uhon Johnson, who he also killed, reports CBS affiliate WSPA.
Griffin fled the complex in Mr. Johnson's Ford Expedition, the station reported. He was seen by a Buncombe County Sheriff's Department deputy after 11 p.m.
Griffin also faces charges including for robbery, larceny and reckless driving, according to the station
