Philly murder suspect in custody after car chase in Florida
PHILADELPHIA -- U.S. Marshals have arrested a Philadelphia murder suspect after a tip led them to chase him down in Florida Tuesday afternoon, according to CBS Philly.
Police said the suspect, 28-year-old Kayree Reid, was wanted for the fatal shooting of a 22-year-old man inside of a grocery store in west Philadelphia's Mantua neighborhood on Nov. 10.
"We got information from the U.S. Marshals out in Philadelphia that a homicide fugitive from Philadelphia was in the Jacksonville area," said Silvestre del Rosario, of the U.S. Marshals.
Investigators said they tracked Reid to a home Tuesday evening, where they saw him get into a Ford Expedition, with a baby in a back seat. The driver sped off and a chase ensued, according to the station.
Authorities said the pursuit ended when the driver slammed into some police cars, totaling the SUV. No one was hurt and the baby is now in its mother's custody, the station reported.
The driver was arrested, along with Reid. He's being charged with battery on a law enforcement officer and endangerment of a child.
