Oregon man openly carrying new gun robbed by man with gun
GRESHAM, Ore. - A 21-year-old Oregon man was proud enough of his brand new Walther P22 handgun that he was carrying it in the open during the wee hours of Saturday morning after purchasing it earlier in the day.
Police say another young man in grey sweatpants, a white t-shirt and flip-flops then approached and asked for a cigarette, according to CBS affiliate KOIN in Portland.
William Coleman was then told by the man in flip-flops: "I like your gun. Give it to me."
The robber then produced a gun of his own from his sweatpants' waistband, police say.
Coleman handed over the gun and the man fled on foot.
The weapon used in the robbery was described as a possibly semi-automatic, black gun, Gresham Police said.
According to the Walther Arms website, a new P22 starts selling at around $380.
Walther brand handguns have been famously used by the title character in many of the James Bond movies.
