In an episode entitled "Stunted," Cassavetes plays the director of an action film starring Vincent Chase (played by Adrian Grenier), who returns to A-list prominence after his role in Martin Scorsese film adaptation of "The Great Gatsby," and does his own dangerous stunts in the fictional movie.
The 51-year-old filmmaker is known largely for directing the 2002 film "John Q" and "The Notebook" in 2004. Cassavetes also followed up both films with the 2007 ensemble crime drama "Alpha Dog" starring pop singer Justin Timberlake and actress Emile Hirsch, and "My Sister's Keeper" with Cameron Diaz in 2009.
In a behind-the-scenes featurette of the episode from HBO, Cassavetes reveals that filming stunts and doing them himself are a part of his repertoire. "As an actor, I've always did all my own stunts. I asked [the HBO "Entourage" producers] if I could be in the car even if they don't see me [on camera]."
"Entourage" airs Sunday nights on HBO.
