New Hampshire primary set for January 10
Secretary of State Bill Gardner has announced that the New Hampshire primary will take place on January 10.
The decision, which was expected, sets the first-in-the-nation New Hampshire primary one week after the Iowa caucuses, set for January 3. The South Carolina primary is set for January 21, and the Florida primary is scheduled for January 31.
Gardner had threatened to set the New Hampshire primary in December because Nevada had scheduled its caucuses for January 14. But Nevada moved its caucuses back to February 4, clearing the January 10 date for New Hampshire. New Hampshire law requires the state to hold its primary at least seven days before the next nominating contest.
