New "Fifty Shades of Grey" book quickly tops best-seller lists
It won't be unleashed until later this month, but E L James' newest "Fifty Shades of Grey" book is already a bestseller.
A day after announcing that she had written a "Fifty Shades" novel from billionaire Christian Grey's point of view, "Grey" was No. 1 on Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.com as of midday Tuesday.
James' "Fifty Shades of Grey" trilogy, the explicit romance between Grey and young Anastasia Steele, has sold more than 100 million copies worldwide.
The author said in a statement Monday that her new book, coming out June 18, was in response to fans who "asked ... and asked ... and asked ... asked" that she tell Christian's side of the story.
James' trilogy has sold more than 125 million copies since coming out in 2011. The first "Fifty Shades" movie, starring Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson, came out earlier this year and grossed more than $500 million worldwide. A sequel based on the second novel, "Fifty Shades Darker," is currently in the works.
