NBC renews "The Sing-Off" for season 5
Fans of "The Sing-Off" have an aca-mazing reason to rejoice.
NBC's a cappella reality competition series has been renewed for a fifth season, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The series will return once again in December just in time for the holidays, although it is not yet known how many episodes will air or how the season will be spread out. Seasons 1, 2 and 4 were aired in a nightly format, while season 3 was broadcast in weekly installments.
The Peacock Network also hasn't said yet whether host Nick Lachey or series judges -- Ben Folds, Jewel and Shawn Stockman -- will be back for the fifth season.
The ratings for season 4 were less than stellar, with the Christmas Eve finale episode turning in a record-low audience rating for the series, with 5.2 million viewers.
The series does provide a decent amount of exposure and new opportunities for a cappella groups, however. Take The Filharmonic, a group which competed in season 4 and then later booked an appearance in the upcoming film "Pitch Perfect 2." Pentatonix, season 3 winners, will also appear in the film.
Auditions for season 5 are now underway.
