Can one network have two successful series set behind-the-scenes at a sketch comedy show? NBC thinks it can. The comedy "30 Rock" stars Tina Fey as the head writer of a comedy show, while "Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip" is a dramedy starring Matthew Perry and Bradley Whitford as two comedy writers at yet another comedy program.

NBC is is also venturing into science fiction with "Heroes" and serialized ensemble drama with "Kidnapped."

"Heroes"
(Monday 9 p.m.)
This much-anticipated drama series follows the lives of a group of people in locations around the world who discover they have special powers. From a Japanese office worker who realizes he can teleport at will, to a struggling artist in New York who has the ability to paint the future, each "hero" must learn to harness his or her powers. They just might be destined to save humankind.

The show stars Milo Ventimiglia ("Gilmore Girls"), Greg Grunberg ("Alias"), and Hayden Panettiere ("Ally McBeal," "Guiding Light").

(Monday 10 p.m.)

"Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip" stars Matthew Perry and Bradley Whitford as two hotshot comedy writers brought in by the new network president (Amanda Peet) to save a struggling late-night sketch comedy series. The show was created by Aaron Sorkin ("Sports Night," "West Wing").

The cast also includes D.L. Hughley, Steven Weber, Sarah Paulson, Timothy Busfield and Bradley Whitford. It's one of two shows debuting on NBC this season that take place behind-the-scenes of series television, the other being "30 Rock."

"Friday Night Lights"
(Tuesday 8 p.m.)

High school football is the theme of this drama, created by Peter Berg ("Chicago Hope") who wrote and directed the 2004 film version of the show. The series follows a fictional Texas high school team, the Dillon Panthers, as they try to go all the way to the championship. Kyle Chandler ("Grey's Anatomy," "Early Edition") plays Eric Taylor, who's feeling the pressure of his first year as head coach.

3"30 Rock"
(Wednesday 8 p.m.)

Created by and starring former "Saturday Night Live" performer and head writer Tina Fey, "30 Rock" is a workplace comedy about — what else? — a head writer at a fictional sketch comedy show. The show also stars "SNL" veteran Tracy Morgan, Jane Krakowski ("Ally McBeal"), and Alec Baldwin ("Fun With Dick And Jane," "Will And Grace").

"Twenty Good Years"
(Wednesday 8:30 p.m.)

Veteran actors John Lithgow ("3rd Rock From The Sun") and Jeffrey Tambor ("Arrested Development") play an odd couple who can agree on one thing: They have only 20 good years left to live. Together, they decide to live each day is if it were their last. The half-hour comedy also stars Heather Burns ("Bewitched") and Jake Sandvig ("Cracking Up").

4"Kidnapped"
(Wednesday 10 p.m.)

Jeremy Sisto ("Six Feet Under") plays Knapp, a detective who, sometimes using unorthodox methods, specializes in finding kidnap victims. Dana Delaney ("China Beach") and Timothy Hutton ("Ordinary People," "Taps") star as Ellie and Conrad Cain, who hire Knapp to find their 15-year-old kidnapped son, Leo (Will Denton).

Everyone is a suspect in the investigation.
