Morena Baccarin asks for delay in divorce deposition, citing high-risk pregnancy
"Gotham" actress Morena Baccarin is having a very stressful pregnancy thanks to her messy divorce from husband Austin Chick.
Baccarin is expecting a baby with her co-star Ben McKenzie, which makes the divorce and custody battle for her son with Chick more complicated. The actress is now trying to postpone a deposition date set by her estranged husband, citing her high-risk pregnancy, reports People. Chick's lawyer set the deposition for last week, but Baccarin's attorney said the actress needs more time because of the physical stress a deposition would cause.
"I am now almost eight months pregnant, and I continue to have a high risk pregnancy," Baccarin said in legal documents. "My physician ... has advised me to have as much bed rest as possible and limited activities. She further advised that sitting (as to answering questions) for deposition, regardless of the length of time, is unduly and unnecessarily stressful to me at this time. Such stress will affect my personal well-being and potentially cause harm to the health of my unborn child."
Baccarin's attorney said that she would participate 30 days after she gives birth.
Baccarin and Chick separated over the summer and have been fighting over custody for their 2-year-old son Julius. In the fall, Baccarin asked a judge to order Chick to move to New York from Los Angeles so the two could share custody, and said she was unable to travel between Los Angeles and New York because of her pregnancy. A judge gave her primary custody in September, but a November ruling stated that Baccarin must pay her ex more than $23,000 a month in spousal and child support.
