Investigators reportedly said Matthew Bowling had sex with a teen student twice during the summer of 2013.
The girl's mother reported the encounters to the Archdiocese of Louisville after discovering text messages between the teacher and her daughter.
Dr. Brian Reynolds, the chancellor of the Archdiocese, told the station Bowling admitted that he was having an inappropriate relationship with the girl and resigned his position.
Bowling's neighbors told the station that the former teacher is married and he had groups of teenagers at his home several times this summer.
The Archdiocese reportedly turned the case over to police.
Bowling has pleaded not guilty to both charges.
