NEW YORK (CBS) When it comes to real-life marijuana, "Weeds" star Mary Louise Parker just says no.

The 46-year-old actress who plays pot-pushing housewife Nancy on the Showtime series "Weeds" admitted that she doesn't actually smoke marijuana in real life, and also doesn't believe the show she stars in has caused any of the current medical marijuana debates.

"I don't know that I'm the best judge of that," said Parker to the Boston Herald, when asked  her thoughts on the substance and the debates surrounding its medical usage, adding that marijuana "doesn't seem quite as contraband."

Parke stops short of condemning the drug, saying it's a matter of  personal choice.

"I don't have that reefer madness, but so many people do it," Parker said. "I don't know why they bother doing it. There's nothing even remotely naughty about it. It's like Sudafed. I was never interested in it. I just feel honestly, people make a really big deal about it."

"Weeds" is currently in its sixth season on the Showtime network.
