Manhunt ends after shooting of deputy, another person in Ohio
DEERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- Authorities early Friday morning captured a suspect in an apartment complex shooting that left two people wounded including a sheriff's deputy, reports CBS Cincinnati affiliate WKRP-TV.
The shooting happened Thursday night in Deerfield Township, about 25 miles northeast of Cincinnati.
The Warren County Sheriff's Office said a female deputy was shot while responding to report of a domestic situation at an apartment complex.
"The shooting was basically right after the deputy's arrival," said Lt. John Faine.
Authorities said the deputy was taken to a hospital and was "conscious and alert." She was released from the hospital early Friday, WKRP says.
Another person also was shot and was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The names of the two victims were not immediately released.
Helicopters and K-9 units were called to the scene to assist in the search for the alleged gunman, later identified as 19-year-old Mohammed Abdou Laghaoui.
Police say he was captured without incident in an area near the crime scene.
"He's considered to be armed and very dangerous," Faine said when he was still on the lam.
The Deerfield Township Fire Rescue sent out a tweet late Thursday warning of an active shooter situation. They advised people to stay inside and not to open their doors to strangers.
