Life and times of a foreign correspondent
60 Minutes celebrates the great Bob Simon this week. He died on Wednesday, February 11th in a car accident at the age of 73.
60 Minutes executive producer Jeff Fager said, "It is such a tragedy, made worse because we lost him in a car accident, a man who has escaped more difficult situations than almost any journalist in modern times."
In 2013, 60 Minutes Overtime's Ann Silvio interviewed Bob about the 40 years he spent covering the Middle East, first as a foreign correspondent for CBS News and later as a correspondent for 60 Minutes. That interview, co-produced by Peter Berman, can be watched in the video player above.
