Kathryn Morris On 'Mindhunters'

Fans of the hit CBS drama "Cold Case" know Kathryn Morris as the persistent detective Lilly Rush. Now, the actress is taking her crime-solving talents to the big screen in the new whodunit, "Mindhunters."

In the movie, when seven FBI profilers take part in a training exercise, they find that they are being murdered one by one.

"It's definitely a ride," Morris tells The Early Show co-anchor Julie Chen. "It's one of those movies where you take your feet up and put them on the sofa. You don't want anything to get your feet. It's one of those popcorn, jump up and allow yourself to be scared for the whole ride, because you really don't know who is going to do it, who has done it, until the whole movie is rolled out."

Some people have compared this film to Agatha Christie's murder mystery, "Ten Little Indians" and Morris agrees, "It also reminded me of the movie 'Seven.' It had sort of a tone to it, suspense and a true creepiness and a feeling of isolation," she says. "I mean, these profilers, law enforcement agents, are just going through their final test. They're put on to an island and there is no way out."

She describes her character as a lot more vulnerable than the one she plays in "Cold Case."

Morris explains, "There is actually a scene that was cut from the movie which really sort of showed how vulnerable she was. She was an FBI agent who really cracked under pressure. She liked to be behind the desk. She had panic attacks. So she's really much more fragile than Lilly Rush. Lilly Rush, nothing really fazes her. She can take it. But this character is quite different and much more vulnerable."

But portraying Sara Moore was not the only perk; Morris says she always wanted to do an action film and was thrilled to work with such a talented cast. The film also stars Val Kilmer, Christian Slater and LL Cool J.

She says, "I've always wanted to work with those actors, so we all just hung out in the green room and talked about acting for hours between takes. We all got along very well and so to be in the middle of Amsterdam doing this action movie, we had a lot of fun."

As for "Cold Case," Morris is getting ready for the season finale. She says, "Lilly Rush has had a rough year. The whole group, the whole team, everyone has been flawed and had a lot of dissension among us. But this is going to be a sequel to an episode we did, equally called 'Mindhunter.' Isn't that funny? Lilly Rush is who she is, the undercurrent of why she became a cop, and it's going to be quite raw and survival time."
