Kate Norley Engaged to John Oliver

NEW YORK (CBS) Kate Norley is getting plenty of buzz online today. The Iraq verteran is engaged to "Daily Show" correspondent John Oliver.

The pair recently declared their intention to marry while walking the red carpet at Comedy Central's "Night Of Too Many Stars: An Overbooked Concert for Autism Education" on Saturday.

"I finally made a move," Norley jokingly told People Magazine.

According to the magazine, the couple met while attending the Republican National Convention back in 2008. Oliver was covering the goings-on for "The Daily Show" and Norley was campaigning.

Norley, who served as a medic in Iraq, is savoring the time she shares with her fiance, who says it's difficult measuring up to someone who has spent time serving her country.

"It's the most emasculating thing I could possibly do to go out with someone who has actually done something valuable with their life," Oliver jokingly told the magazine.

Norley and Oliver say they plan to marry some time in 2011.
