Mom's boyfriend charged after remains found in search for girl
BESSEMER CITY, N.C. -- Officials say the boyfriend of the mother of a missing 3-year-old child has been charged with first degree murder, reports CBS affiliate WBTV.
William "Skip" McCullen is charged with first degree murder in the suspected death of Jordan Ann Dumont. Officials initially said McCullen told them he had last seen the young girl around 1 p.m. Monday and notified authorities once he realized that the toddler was missing.
Police have not said how the child died or what evidence led them to arrest McCullen.
Human remains, believed to be a toddler's, were located during the search for the missing child Tuesday morning, Gaston County Police Chief Joseph Ramey told the station.
The remains have not yet been identified.
"We do not believe we've gotten the outcome that we were hoping for," Ramey said.
Authorities say that Dumont was one of two children in the home. The other child is accounted for, reports WBTV.
McCullen was taken to the Gaston County Jail, according the station.
