Pa. officer accused of assaulting husband with car keys

NORTH HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- A Cheswick police officer is facing charges stemming from an alleged domestic abuse incident over the weekend, reports CBS Pittsburgh.

Officer Jessica Frame has been charged with simple assault and harassment, according to the station. Police reportedly say the incident happened around 11 p.m. Saturday in North Huntingdon.

She is now out on bond.

The victim reportedly told police that he was returning home with Frame and their kids when she took the keys out of the ignition and struck him in the face. He was hit twice in the left eye and several times in the nose, according to the station.

Police reportedly observed redness and bruising on his face along with a bloody nose.

This is the second time Frame has been arrested for assaulting her husband in the past six months, reports CBS Pittsburgh.

Cheswick Mayor Dan Carroll confirmed to the station that she is one of the borough's officers. Frame has reportedly been a part-time police officer for nearly four years.

When asked about the second arrest in six months, the mayor told CBS Pittsburgh that he was "quite surprised" and that the first charges were dropped, as they "believe in second chances."

She has since been suspended, Carroll added.

It is reportedly unlikely that Frame will be used as a police officer in Cheswick again. Sources tell the station that standard operating procedure within the police department states that any officer charged with a crime twice will be fired.
