Jake Gyllenhaal Shows His Fun Side

From "Jarhead" to "Brokeback Mountain," Jake Gyllenhaal has become one of Hollywood's most versatile actors and hottest leading men.

Now he's taking on the role of action hero in his new film "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time."

Gyllenhaal stopped by "The Early Show" Thursday to talk with co-anchor Maggie Rodriguez about his fun new action role in "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time."

Rodriguez teased the leading man about how great it must be to get fit for a living. "Like all the movie posters are about your buff abs and your arms. It must be horrible to be objectified like that," Rodriguez said, laughing.

Gyllenhaal lightheartedly joked back with talk about his biceps, triceps, and how life isn't too bad being an actor.

Gyllenhaal has been featured in many films on the big screen, playing roles ranging from the strange "Donnie Darko" to a Marine sniper in the film "Jarhead" and of course, one of the leads in "Brokeback."

But he takes his career in a different direction with "Prince of Persia."

"I thought it was time to not take myself so seriously and enjoy myself. I read the script and it was a character that was just having a great time and was full of action and he was witty the whole time and just not taking himself too seriously," Gyllenhaal told Rodriguez.

And have fun he did. "Prince of Persia" was filmed on location Morocco, the same place "Sex and the City 2" was filmed.

Although the film is "more authentic in the Sahara," said Gyllenhaal, there is no shortage of action or fantasy.

"Prince of Persia" is in theaters nationwide Friday.
