Israel confirms electro-optic guided missile

Israel's army has confirmed the development of a missile guided by electro-optic sensors that can strike armored targets up to 25 kilometers away.

The so-called Tamuz missile actually saw action in both the Second Lebanon War three years ago, as well as during Operation Cast Lead in Gaza in 2008. However, Israel only today formally publicized the existence of the weapon, which lets infantry operators in the field guide the missile to remote targets. The Israeli daily Haaretz, reported that the missile has been in Israel's arsenal since the early 1980s but was only disclosed now. It was unclear why the news came out just now.
