Hundreds gather at memorial for Victoria Martens
Hundreds came to remember and celebrate 10-year-old Victoria Martens’ life at an Albuquerque church on Saturday, CBS affiliate KRQE reports.
Many family, friends and strangers wore Victoria Martens’ favorite color of purple to honor her memory Saturday.
Motorcycle officers escorted a white hearse to Copper Pointe Church shortly before the 11 a.m. ceremony.
The hearse was more symbolic since it will be months before the girl’s remains will be returned to the family.
Police found Victoria’s dismembered body Aug. 24 inside the apartment she shared with her mother.
The grisly nature of her death sent shockwaves through the community.
Her mother, Michelle Martens, the mother’s boyfriend and his cousin have all been charged in her death.
