Harry Reid back at work after breaking ribs, bones in face
Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nevada is back at work, although he's working from home in Washington, on doctor's orders, after a nasty fall while exercising at his Nevada house last week. He sent out a Tweet with this information, accompanied by a photo showing him meeting with his Senate Democratic leadership team, Dick Durbin of Illinois, Patty Murray of Washington, and Chuck Schumer of New York.
He also talked about his mishap in a video on YouTube, ruefully noting even when he'd been a professional boxer, "after any one of those fights, I never looked like I do now."
Reid's spokesman Adam Jentleson said the incoming minority leader will continue to work at home "so that his injuries can continue to heal."
Reid suffered broken bones in his face, three broken ribs, and a concussion Thursday when an elastic exercise band he was using snapped, causing him to fall at his home in Henderson, Nevada.
Jentleson said that in spite of his injuries, Reid "has been working every day, holding meetings with fellow Senators and staff." He has also spoken with President Obama multiple times since his injury. Until Reid is able to return to the floor, Durbin, the assistant Democratic leader, will take over Reid's duties on the floor.
