Greenfield Joins CBS News
JEFF GREENFIELD RETURNS TO CBS NEWS AS SENIOR POLITICAL CORRESPONDENT
Jeff Greenfield, acclaimed political, media and culture reporter, will return to CBS News as Senior Political Correspondent, it was announced by Sean McManus, President, CBS News and Sports. He will contribute to the CBS EVENING NEWS WITH KATIE COURIC, THE EARLY SHOW, CBS NEWS SUNDAY MORNING and other CBS News broadcasts, as well as CBSNews.com. The appointment is effective May 1.
Greenfield has been Senior Analyst for CNN since 1998. During that time, he served as its lead analyst for coverage of the primaries, conventions, presidential debates and election nights, as well as presidential funerals and Supreme Court confirmation hearings. Greenfield also has reported on the media, culture and trends for the cable channel.
"Jeff's writing, reporting and analytical skills are second to none," said McManus. "As we gear up for the 2008 elections, he will add even more depth and expertise to CBS News' political coverage. Jeff will also add his unique perspective to coverage of culture, lifestyle and trends."

I'm looking to the next national election with enormous anticipation. I couldn't be happier to be back."
While Greenfield's reporting has taken him to datelines around the world from South Africa to Japan to Europe, he is principally known for his coverage of domestic politics and media. He has served as a floor reporter or anchor booth analyst for every national convention since 1988. Greenfield has twice been named to TV Guide's All-Star team as best political commentator and was cited by the Washington Journalism Review as "the best in the business" for his media analysis.
Before joining CNN, Greenfield was Political and Media Analyst for ABC News (1983-97), appearing primarily on "Nightline" and delivering weekly commentaries for "World News" Sunday.
Previously, he was the media commentator for CBS News (1979-83). Greenfield also has appeared on William F. Buckley's "Firing Line" and PBS's "We Interrupt This Week." He is currently the anchor of PBS's "CEO Exchange," a limited-run series now in its fifth season.
Greenfield is the recipient of three Emmy Awards, two for his reporting from South Africa and one for a profile of Ross Perot.
His work has appeared in many publications, including The New York Times Magazine, Harper's and National Lampoon. Greenfield is the author or co-author of 11 books. His first novel, The People's Choice, was a national bestseller and was named by The New York Times Book Review as one of the notable books of the year. His most recent book was Oh, Waiter, One Order of Crow, an insider's account of the contested 2000 presidential election.
Greenfield was born in New York City. He was graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1964, where he was editor-in-chief of the Daily Cardinal, and from Yale Law School in 1967, where he was a Note and Comment editor of the Yale Law Journal. Greenfield lives in New York and Salisbury, Conn.
