Grandparent: Teacher made boy hang by belt from chalkboard
CONYERS, Ga. -- A Georgia school district says it's conducting "a full investigation" into claims that a teacher disciplined a 5-year-old boy by making him hang by his belt from the top of a chalkboard.
The boy's grandmother, Tracy Davis tells WSB-TV the principal at Shoal Creek Elementary School in Conyers, about 25 miles east of Atlanta, found the boy hanging from the chalkboard and screaming. She says the child has special needs.
Davis says state child services officials interviewed the boy and learned that this wasn't the first time it had happened.
A statement by Rockdale County Public Schools says the district "takes all matters of this kind very seriously and is currently conducting a full investigation."
