"Glee" actress Lauren Potter is engaged
"Glee" actress Lauren Potter has some exciting news -- she's engaged.
Her boyfriend, Timothy Spear, proposed to Potter with a promise ring.
Robin Sinkhorn, Potter's mom, told People that Spear gave her the ring on Sunday after a romantic picnic in Laguna Beach overlooking the ocean.
"He picked out the ring, made payments on it, and then planned the picnic and the moment to get down on one knee to ask her to promise to be his one-and-only and marry him when they are ready," she said. "Then they watched the sunset together."
Potter and Spear, both 26, met as babies and were longtime friends before they began dating. The two have Down Syndrome and took the same infant stimulation classes at the Children's Center in Riverside, California.
"We've kept in touch over the years, but it wasn't until the kids were reunited while they were both living in Laguna Beach," Sinkhorn said. "When Lauren ended a relationship, Timothy immediately asked her out and they have been together since."
Potter is best known for her role as cheerleader Becky Jackson, Sue Sylvester's sidekick, on "Glee." She is also an activist for the special needs community, serving on President Obama's Committee for People with Intellectual Disabilities.
