Girl Scout cookies to include s'mores option in select markets

BOSTON -- Move over Thin Mints, there's a new Girl Scout cookie in town, CBS Boston reports.

Girl Scouts of the USA announced Wednesday -- National S'mores Day -- that it will soon be selling two commemorative s'mores cookies.

The new Girl Scout S'mores cookies will be offered in select markets in 2017.

There will actually be two versions of the new treat, described as a "s'mores-inspired crispy graham cookie double-dipped in a crème icing and enrobed in a chocolatey coating" and a "crunchy graham sandwich cookie with a chocolate and marshmallowy filling."

The cookies are also vegan, according to the Girl Scouts.

"S'mores have strong ties to our organization's history and our ongoing camp programs," Patricia A. Parcellin, CEO of Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts, said in a statement.

Girl Scout S'mores cookies will be the eighth variety of cookie sold by the organization. Cookie sales help fund Girl Scouts activities for nearly two million girls nationwide.
