George Lopez To Host Latin Grammys
Comedian-actor George Lopez will be the host for the fourth-annual Latin Grammy awards show on Sept. 3.
Lopez, a longtime standup comedian, is co-creator, writer, producer and star of the ABC sitcom "George Lopez." He will introduce presenters and performers at the show to be held at the AmericanAirlines Arena in Miami and broadcast live on CBS.
Lopez has received numerous honors for his contributions to the Latin community, including the Latino Spirit Award for Excellence in Television and the National Hispanic Media Coalition Impact Award.
Among the acts scheduled to perform are Ricky Martin, Alexandre Pires with Kelly Clarkson, Thalia, Bacilos and Molotov. Presenters will include television actors Jessica Alba of "Dark Angel" and Adam Rodriguez of "CSI: Miami," and model-actors Tyrese and Sofia Vergara.
"The Latin Grammys will be presented in 40 key categories covering a variety of genres and sub-genres of Latin music and will be the largest and most prestigious celebration of the creative spirit, artistic achievement and diversity found in today's Latin music," said CBS on its Web site.
The Latin Grammys recognize achievements in Spanish- and Portuguese-language recordings. The Latin Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences was established in 1997.
