Geena Davis heading to TV on "Grey's Anatomy"
Geena Davis is going to be scrubbing in on "Grey's Anatomy."
The Oscar winner has been cast in a "major guest arc" on the upcoming 11th season of the medical drama, her rep and ABC confirmed to E! News.
Character and plot details are scarce, but reports say Davis, 58, will play a surgeon on the series -- perhaps not surprising in the wake of Dr. Cristina Yang's (Sandra Oh) departure from Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital at the end of last season.
Davis starred in (and received an Emmy nomination for) the short-lived TV series "Commander in Chief," and also recently appeared in Lake Bell's indie film "In a World..."
"Grey's Anatomy" returns to ABC in September.
