Florida police K9 sniffs out 72 bags of marijuana
MARION COUNTY, Fla. -- A drug detecting K9 named Rocky discovered more than $225,000 worth of marijuana inside a pickup truck in Florida on Tuesday, reports CBS affiliate WKMG.
Officials haven't said why they stopped a blue Ford F-350 pickup truck in Marion County on Tuesday, but while investigators were talking with the driver, Rocky and an officer conducted a drug sniff of the truck.
Visible in the vehicle's bed were large pieces of used furniture and multiple cardboard boxes, but Rocky quickly realized the boxes were packed with marijuana, according to the Marion County Sheriff's Office. Officials found 72 one-pound vacuum-sealed bags, worth a total of about $225,000.
The driver, Lee Alan Minchew, was arrested and booked into the Marion County Jail on charges related to trafficking more than 25 pounds of marijuana. He posted a $25,000 bond and was released from jail on Wednesday.
