Fiery science experiment injures 3-year-old students at Texas church school

HOUSTON -- Six children were hospitalized on Tuesday after a science experiment erupted in flames at a church school in Texas.

CBS affiliate KHOU-TV reported Houston firefighters responded to a report of multiple burn victims at Yellow School at Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church.

Upon their arrival, paramedics transported six 3-year-old children to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries that were sustained during a supervised outdoor science experiment. Six other children who were injured during the experiment received treatment at the scene.

A school spokesman says the project resulted in flames; however, he did not confirm what kind of experiment was being conducted.

All parents of the students that were injured have been notified, police said.

The incident remains under investigation.
