Fall Releases For PS2 And PSP
With tons of new games debuting this fall, we here at GameCore decided to present our readers with some quick looks at some of the decent titles available now.
"ATV Offroad Fury 4"
The title speaks for itself. "Offroad Fury 4" essentially brings all the fun of offroad racing to your PS2. Vehicles to choose from include ATV quad racers, dune buggies, trucks and MX bikes. With this PS2 version, a bulk of the game lies in the story mode, which allows you to create a racer and take that racer through a series of races around the world. You start off in the amateur leagues, and have to literally race your way to the top to gain credibility as a racer.
After you win events, you can win sponsors who will subsidize your racing career and allow you to buy new parts for your ride. You can even customize the appearance of your ride with different paint jobs. In addition to the story mode, you can race in single-player mode, which is effectively a quick race. In the PS2 version there is also a track editor. Gamers can make the corners tighter and jumps higher with custom-built circuit tracks. "Offroad Fury 4" supports up to eight players online with numerous events including freestyle events. Delivering more than 30 vehicles in this title, "ATV Offroad Fury 4" is a pretty sweet rally racer.
"ATV Offroad Fury 4" is rated "E" for Everyone (Content suitable for ages 6 or older) and is available for the PlayStation 2 game console.
"Mortal Kombat: Armageddon"
Here is a title with tons of rich history dating back the early '90s. The Mortal Kombat series continues to deliver the bone-crushing, butt-kicking action gamers are looking for in fighting games. With "MK: Armageddon," all characters from the previous "Mortal Kombat" games are available - even obscure characters such as Ermac and Kung Lao. In addition, each fighter has their own weapons during fighting. A cool new feature lets you create your own character, complete with special moves as well as custom finishing moves.
The graphics are great and the opening introduction sequence is classic. Of course Midway has packed in some great fatalities, a staple of the "Kombat" series. There is also a silly, yet fun, side game called "Motor Kombat," which is a kart racer where your character races against other fighters. You also have the ability to bump people off the road and collect speed bursts. In a nutshell, the "Mortal Kombat" series is just great. With many new gameplay modes and create-a-fighter features, this title is a keeper.

"Mortal Kombat: Armageddon" is rated "M" for Everyone (Content suitable for ages 17 or older) and is available for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox game consoles.
"Offroad Fury Pro" is a neat, rally-style racing game for the PSP. Just like its console counterpart, "ATV Offroad Fury 4," there are many races, which include the standard supercross, rallycross, national, freestyle and circuit events. Even snowcross events are available. The PSP version is technically a stand-alone title with different tracks than its console counterpart. You also get a totally different soundtrack from the PS2 version.
Besides your standard ATVs, you can choose from 30 other vehicles ranging from buggies to MX bikes. "Offroad Fury Pro" features tons of tracks with distinct terrain types including snow, dirt and mud. In addition to the single player events multiplayer racing will certainly keep you occupied, as both infrastructure and ad hoc modes are supported in "Offroad Fury Pro." One downside to the online play is only being able to race against three other racers. You can also tinker with your vehicle's settings with the tuning system, which allows you to change exhaust and gear ratios. Similarly, if you have it for the PS2, you can sync the two and swap tracks and vehicles.
"ATV Offroad Fury Pro" is rated "E" for Everyone (Content suitable for ages 6 or older) and is available for the PSP handheld gaming system.
