Eye doctor accused of watching patients too closely

CHICAGO - A highly respected eye doctor and surgeon - at least until now - is accused of installing a camera in a toilet tank in a ladies restroom at two of his office locations, reports CBS Chicago.

Authorities say Dr. Robert Weiss installed the cameras at the Chicago Eye Institute and Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, both in Chicago.

Weiss, 58, faces felony charges for unauthorized videotaping, according to the station.

He will not be providing any patient care while the investigation continues, the hospital said.

Police were reportedly made aware of the situation after a woman discovered a small camera taped inside a toilet at Weiss's office.

Gloria Anderson is an employee.

"He's a great surgeon. He's a great plastic surgeon," said Anderson. "It would be shocking if it is true..."

Weiss was ordered held on $75,000 bail, which he posted, reports the station.
