Cops: Md. toddler found wandering ID'd; woman found dead at her home
LANSDOWNE, Md. -- Police say they're investigating the death of a woman discovered at the home of a young girl found alone in a CVS parking lot.
Baltimore County Police announced early Monday that the girl described as about 3 years old was found wandering unattended around 10:30 p.m. Sunday in the Hollins Ferry Road in Lansdowne, south of Baltimore.
Hours later, police tweeted that they determined that the girl lives at a home about a block away and a woman was found dead at that home. Police say they are conducting a death investigation.
Both the deceased woman and the child had some blood on them, Cpl. John Wachter, a Baltimore County Police spokesman, wrote in an email to 48 Hours' Crimesider. The girl had blood on her clothing but was not injured, Wachter said. There's no indication as to who the blood belongs to.
Police have identified the girl and believe they know who the deceased woman is, but haven't made an official identification, Wachter said. Neither name is being released.
There are no obvious signs of foul play, Wachter said. An autopsy is set to determine the woman's cause and manner of death.
The girl is now in the custody of Baltimore County Social Services.
