Coming up Sunday, February 2nd on Face the Nation
At a GOP retreat in Cambridge, Md., Thursday, House Republicans announced that they could be open to an immigration deal that would let the country's 11 million illegal immigrants to live and work legally within the United States. Will Congress be able to push out an immigration deal this year? Sunday, we'll hear from Majority Leader Eric Cantor.
In
the State of the Union this week, President Obama said he’d go around Congress
and use Executive Orders to get things done if Congress couldn’t. But what
exactly can he do? And, will he compromise with House Republicans on
immigration – the President wants a path to citizenship, but that’s a step
further than Republicans want to take. We'll ask President Obama's chief of
staff, Denis McDonough, about what he thinks.
Plus,
as the New York area gears up for Superbowl XLVIII featuring the Denver
Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks, we'll ask former New York City mayor Rudy
Giuliani about security at the Meadowlands in New Jersey. And on the
other side of the world, there’s an even bigger sporting event about to get
underway…We'll have a report on security for the tens of thousands who’ll be
attending the Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
We'll also bring you the latest on the New Jersey bridge scandal, and talk to the man leading the investigation, NJ Assemblyman John Wisniewski.
Finally, we have an all-star panel lined up with David Gergen of Harvard University, Michael Gerson on the Washington Post, Kimberly Stassel of the Wall Street Journal and Democratic strategist Bob Shrum. Hope you'll join us. Check you local listings.
