Clintons, Mondale mourn Ferraro at funeral

NEW YORK - Both Clintons and former Vice President Walter Mondale are among the mourners at a New York City funeral Mass for Geraldine Ferraro.

Mondale chose Ferraro as his Democratic running mate when he ran for president in 1984. She was the first woman to run for that post on a major-party ticket in the U.S.

Dignitaries at Thursday's funeral in Manhattan included former President Bill Clinton; Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton; former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright; and House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi.

Also attending were Gov. Andrew Cuomo; his father, former Gov. Mario Cuomo; and Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Ferraro, who also was a former congresswoman, died Saturday at age 75. She had a form of blood cancer.

Her family asks that donations be made to several charities including two myeloma research foundations.
