Chris Brown's Washington assault trial delayed for months

Chris Brown's trial on an assault charge has been delayed for months after prosecutors declined to grant immunity to the singer's bodyguard, whom defense lawyers call a key witness.

Wednesday had been set as the start of Brown's trial. But prosecutors told a judge they won't grant immunity to bodyguard Christopher Hollosy, who was convicted of assault in the incident. Hollosy had said that without immunity, he wouldn't testify until he has finished appealing his case. That could take months, and Brown's trial may wait until then.

Hollosy and Brown were arrested in October after a man accused them of punching him. Hollosy told Washington police he, not Brown, punched the man.

A judge scheduled a June status hearing in Brown's case. Brown is in custody as a result of a California case. U.S. Marshals will return him there.
