Calif. woman killed in possible road rage dispute
OAKLAND, Calif. - Police in Oakland, Calif. say a 30-year-old mother of four was shot to death during a possible road-rage confrontation.
Officer Johnna Watson says Perla Avina was a passenger in a Toyota Camry driven by her husband Sunday afternoon in the city's Brookfield Village neighborhood when someone in another car shot her.
According to the Contra Costa Times, police say an angry motorist sprayed gunfire into the 1998 Camry, hitting Avina in the head as she sat in the front passenger seat on the way home from a grocery store run.
The victim's husband, Luis Lopez Gallegos, said details about what led up to the shooting were foggy, but that he recalled another motorist not liking the way he drove, the newspaper reported.
Avina was driven a couple of blocks to her home, where she died.
No suspects have been identified.
Police are seeking witnesses to the shooting, and are offering a reward of up to $30,000 for information leading to an arrest in the case, reports CBS SF Bay Area.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the Oakland Police Homicide Unit at (510) 238-3821.
