An unlikely friendship between a deer and a dog
(CBS News) I don't know about you, but I really love deer. They tend to be one of the sweeter of the wild (i.e. non-domesticated) animals in nature, and are often very surprising in terms of the way they interact with both people and other animals. Take for instance the orphaned deer in the above clip who has developed a very unlikely friendship with a Great Dane...
The small clip comes from an episode of the amazing series Nature entitled "Animal Odd Couples" that was posted by PBS, and who write about this unusual pairing of friends:
After being abandoned by her mother, a baby fawn, Pippin, was adopted by a Great Dane, Kate, and they have been best friends ever since. Kate's owner Isobel Springett describes the uniqueness of their relationship: "When they greet each other, I've never seen anything like it. It's not a deer greeting a deer. It's not a dog greeting a dog. It's definitely something that they have between the two of them."
What a wonderful and uplifting "odd couple" Kate and Pip make! And if you'd like to watch the full episode of "Animal Odd Couples" or see more videos from the series Nature, be sure to click here.
