Alanis Morissette's Husband: Five Things "You Oughta Know" About Souleye
NEW YORK (CBS) With the sudden ring of wedding bells for rock queen Alanis Morissette and her Mr. Right, rapper Souleye, here are five things we think "You Oughta Know" about the singer's new husband.
PICTURES: Celebrity Weddings & EngagementsNumber 1: He's Got Flows, Yo - The Boston-born Mario Treadway is singer and rapper. He started his career after winning a spot on the cruise ship music festival "Jam Cruise" back in 2005 with P-Funk and underground rap notables Digable Planets (Remember "Cool Like That"?). He has self-released two albums: "Balance In Babylon" and "Interglactic Vibes."
Number 2: He's No "Cougar" Chaser - He's 30, Morissette is 36. Though he's three years younger than his new wife's former fiance, 33-year-old actor Ryan Reynolds, they're too close in age for their pairing to be the disparate kind. So no cradle-snatching going on here.
Number 3: He's Not An Overnight Fling - The pair met in October 2009, according to People magazine. Around that time, Morissette broke it off with her beau of two years, Tom Ballanco, an entertainment lawyer.
Number 4: He's Got A "Green" Sensibility - Her new husband is quite the activist. Head over to his Twitter and he offers up thoughts on being pro-universal health care and saving endangered tigers. After the earthquake in Haiti, he tweeted, "Sitting on a plane in LA Crying like a baby Eyes full of tears. Listening to @wyclef thinking of my Haitian friends who live in Florida LOVE."
Number 5: He's West Coast-Based, But World Bound - The two lovebirds tied the knot in a private ceremony in Los Angeles (where they own a home), but the man isn't a settler when it comes to music. He's performed at the Coachella and South By Southwest (SXSW) music festivals and in Canada, Europe and Australia. He will be performing next at the Oregon County Fair on July 9 and the Mystic Garden Pary in Corning, Calif on July 21, according to his MySpace profile.
