After tirade caught on tape, JetBlue passenger receives threats
LONG BEACH, Calif.-- A passenger on a JetBlue flight out of Long Beach, California, on Friday has issued an apology after a very public outburst caught on camera, CBS Los Angeles reported.
"I'm standing up for my mistakes," said passenger David Brackett. "I'm not blaming anybody but myself for the actions that I did."
A passenger shot video of the 28-year-old arguing with another passenger who he said threatened to beat him.
In the footage, Brackett is heard saying he makes $4 million. As flight attendants scramble and passengers squirm in their seats, Brackett goes on: "You're right. I'm a loser. I own six houses."
Air marshals escorted Brackett off the plane. Then, passengers demanded the man he was arguing with leave as well.
The men were taken to the Long Beach Police Department where they both tested below the legal blood-alcohol limit. They were released.
"The PTSD thing that I do have, it's the first time where I've had to do something that I regret," said Brackett.
He blames his outburst on post-traumatic stress disorder, which he said developed after a motorcycle crash that broke almost every bone in his body.
He said the incident unfolded when the other passenger told him the flight attendant was of Middle Eastern descent and likely had a bomb.
"I lost it. I heard 'bomb' in my head and did what I did," said Brackett, who said he tried to get off the plane before he overreacted, but the other passenger stole his cellphone. He said he recorded audio of it.
"Sit down. Please give him back his phone," the flight attendant said in the footage, while Brackett said: "I'm trying to leave! He stole my cell phone."
Brackett said hundreds of threatening emails are flooding into his workplace and after receiving 15,000 negative comments on Facebook, he had to shut it down.
"I don't feel safe anymore," said Brackett, clarifying that he doesn't make a fraction of $4 million he claimed to make in the video.
