In celebration of the 10 year anniversary of the Aflac duck campaign, Todd Evans puts a birthday hat on a duck on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange GETTY
(CBS / What's Trending) The Aflac duck will be quacking once again, thanks to Daniel McKeague from Minnesota.
The thirty six-year-old sales manager beat out 12,500 potential candidates and will voice the Aflac mascot. Comedian Gilbert Gottfried provided the U.S. vocals for the iconic spokes-duck for 11 years, but was fired after making inappropriate remarks on Twitter about Japanese tsunami victims. Seventy-five percent of the insurance company's business is conducted in Japan. Who will be the new voice of Aflac duck? Alfac held a national open casting call earlier this month, and more than 1,100 submissions were posted online. Rest assured Aflac duck fans: McKeague's delivery sounds remarkably similar to Gottfried's nasal intonation. The father of three said he's been known for doing silly voices. McKeague was filmed as he found out about getting the new gig. After Aflac executives asked him to recreate his version of the Aflac duck voice, just to make sure he could take on the role, he was given the job.
