2015 Critics' Choice Movie Awards nominations announced

Awards season continues to heat up with Monday's unveiling of nominations for the 2015 Critics' Choice Movie Awards.

"Birdman" tops the list of nominees with 13 nods, followed by "The Grand Budapest Hotel" with 11. Richard Linklater's "Boyhood was not far behind with eight nominations.

Actor/director Ron Howard will be honored with the Louis XIII Critics' Choice Genius Award. Actress Jessica Chastain, meanwhile, will receive the Critics' Choice MVP Award, which "recognizes an extraordinary actor for their work in several standout movies throughout a single year."

Winners are chosen by the Broadcast Film Critics Association, a group of about 300 film critics.

The 20th Annual Critics' Choice Awards ceremony - hosted by Michael Strahan -- will be held at the Hollywood Palladium on Jan. 15. The gala will air live on A&E.
