Robert Pape and Christian Smith were arrested Friday for the second time. Prosecutors believe they killed Jon Hayward, 55, his girlfriend Vicki Friedli, 53, and Friedli's 18-year-old daughter, Becky, in 2006.
Hayward and Friedli were shot and left in their burning home in the mountain community of Pinyon Pines. Becky's burned corpse was found in a wheelbarrow. "48 Hours" investigated the case in the episode, "Murder in Pinyon Pines."
Pape and Smith were charged with murder in 2014 but that case was dismissed. Authorities say they uncovered new evidence and re-charged the men on Wednesday. They wouldn't detail what new evidence has been gathered.
Pape could face the death penalty and Smith could get life in prison if convicted.
Both remain jailed. It's unclear if they have attorneys.
Authorities haven't mentioned a motive but Pape was Becky's ex-boyfriend. Smith and Pape were friends.
