1,000 pairs of panties pilfered from J.C. Penney

CHEYENNE, Wyo. -- Police say a man and woman stolen more than $9,000 worth of women's underwear from a department store in Wyoming's capital.

Officer Dan Long, a Cheyenne police spokesman, says the shoplifters made off with just over 1,000 pairs of panties from the J.C. Penney store in a Cheyenne's Frontier Mall Wednesday afternoon.

Video surveillance shows the two leaving the store with a large plastic bag.

Long says store employees did not notice the theft until several minutes after it happened and the pair got away before police arrived.

Police estimate roughly 800 pairs of Ambrielle brand underwear and 200 pairs of Flirtitude brand garments were taken.

According to CBS affiliate KGWN, Cheyenne police say an African-American man and Hispanic woman were caught on surveillance at J.C. Penny's, but may have targeted other stores first.

The man is described as in his 30's with shoulder length dreadlocks or braids with metal clamps on the ends and wearing a black and green sweatshirt. The woman was wearing a red puffy coat and white headband. The couple used a plastic Dillard's bag to grab the panties.
